Since finding out that I’m autistic, there has been so much that I want to say. And there has been a lot of emotions to navigate and figure out. One of them being grief. I grieve for younger me and for all the times I’ve ridiculed myself. I grieve for the life I might have had had I found out that I’m autistic sooner. But for all of my grief, I feel this overwhelming sense of joy. And freedom. I now have the freedom to embrace the parts of myself that I once hated. To go and give myself the love I should have given to younger me. To embrace and love who I truly am.
